A couple of folks mentioned East Lyme. I've been researching theirs schools and they are fairly comparable with Glastonbury. But what's the town like? We've kept in Niantic at a very nice marina, but the town feels nothing like Glastonbury as far as shops, restaurants, proximity to culture, atmosphere, etc. What are East Lyme's good attributes besides the schools and location to the sound?

That would be >$1000/month just in gas, not to mention a new car every couple years instead of every 6-7+.. insane.. your price range seems like it could change drastically if you removed those costs. Not to mention the mental toll and time away from family. Anyway, probably off topic... but sometimes people fail to take the commute costs into account.

Most of the time, she stayed in a room she rented in NJ near the office there. So, that meant she was away from home most of the week.

We ended up buying in East Lyme and just moved in this past week.

We bid on 4 homes in Glastonbury and 1 in Madison before East Lyme, but the sellers in Glastonbury & Madison were more stubborn than the seller in East Lyme.

Glastonbury is an upscale suburb of a large city while East Lyme is a coastal town near a small city so of course it is different. East Lyme is still a very nice town. Just because it does not have those upscale shops and restaurants does not mean it is not a good place to live. In fact some would say it is better. Jay

Glastonbury and Madison are very desirable suburbs of large cities. The sellers there can be more stubborn. East Lyme is a coastal with less options so sellers there have to be more flexible. IT is just the way the market works. Jay
