Time to appeal? I thought the property tax is based on the current value of the car. What am I missing here? Someone slipped a digit or two somewhere?

The towns are footing more and more of the bill and getting no help from Hartford. Recall what Malloy said about adding 181,000 new medicare and more food stamp homes (SNAP): 'it is the right thing to do.'

How is the Touareg now? I remember when Consumer Reports about 6 years ago said it was the worst car they ever reviewed in every catagory?

I wouldn't have bought one 6 years ago.
But today, quality, material, and ride can't be beat. We got a 2012 and I absolutely love it.

its a frigging scam to tax you every year for something you originally paid sales tax on when you purchased. I understand property taxes on your home, but to pay every year for a car tax is really ridiculous.
Ours are $276 and $533, a 2004 F150 and a 2010 Ford Escape, that's 800 I could have put into my retirement acct, etc etc. My F150 will be driven into the ground as it runs good and I'm not vain, don't need a new truck to be "cool", as long as it gets me through the snow. I really don't know how people do it, they must be making a lot more $ than me to drive all these luxury cars I see.
Best line ever from a dealer, I entertained the thought of a new F150, decided against it recently when I was told the cost, plus about $1000 of car taxes. When I told the salesman the reason for my not buying, he said I shouldn't consider the car taxes in my decision to buy. What? Well if the dealer cuts me a check for the bill every July I have no problem. This is crazy and other states do the same but this place wants to get every nickel they can out of you
Riddle me this people, I was up in Maine, same truck I mean exact same truck, same engine, trim package, 4x4, same size tires, leather, everything, $9k less in Maine than dealer wanted here, I still didn't buy because I would be faced with higher taxes (they would go by the appraised value) I would save $ on the payments though but geeze this car tax really is absurd..... , another reason I don't own a boat here, hey let's tax that too....tell you what when we get a little older if we do become able to retire and keep a small condo or something in CT, our vehicles are definitely getting registered in Florida, or NC or wherever it is (not SC they have a car tax too)

Basically a percentage that is multiplied times the assessed value to arrive at the actual $$$ amount of tax. The % varies town by town, year by year.
Explanation and example here along with CT town millrates
OPM: Mill Rates

So is the car tax on top of Registration or does this register your car for another year?
