yup, above so for my F150, registration is $219.00 for 2 years. And taxes are 280 for 1 year. For my wife's escape taxes are $530 for 1 year and registration is $90 I think for 2 years.

A new vehicle, say a new SUV or something like that, depending on your town, taxes could be from 700-1000 a year in addition to registration. They do come down based on the depreciation of your vehicle, but it is expensive. Where does this extra $ go for each vehicle with nice blue CT plates on it? I have no clue, maybe for pensions for state workers? all I know is between registration (both of ours happen to expire every two years in July) and car taxes this July I had to come up with another $1100 in addition to my normal bills. Tough to justify, but hey that's just my opinion. Hence why I drive an 8 year old truck i refuse to purposly go further into debt by another truck payment and another additional 800 or so in taxes.

But today, quality, material, and ride can't be beat. We got a 2012 and I absolutely love it.

$43,000 to start and only 23MPG highway? TDI gets 29 on the Highway...That's a lot of $$$ for those kind of numbers!

We get about 19 city, 22 highway. For a midsized SUV, I don't think 20 MPG is bad. We got about 17 in our Pilot.

Car value x (Mill Rate) / 1000 = your approximated tax amount.

Insurance in CT is quite expensive as well if you are from a different state.

Correction : 70% of car value x Mill Rate / 1000 = Annual tax amount. I know that some towns let you pay in two 6-monthly instalments, along with your property tax. Not sure if all do. Also, this only applies to owned vehicles, if you lease then the lessor will pay the full annual amount and bill you.

In April 2011 we moved to Norwalk and bought a used 2007 Nisson Murano. I can't remember the amount we paid Norwalk in January for the car ($200 maybe) but we just paid $335 in July.

Semi-annual installments? I didn't think that was possible. In Wilton (and Stamford) the entire balance was due by July 31.
