In the South they're called buggies
In California they're called carts
In Connecticut they're called carriages!

I'm learning the new lingo.

Oh and thanks to all who gave me the pronounciation lessons earlier in the summer - my husband totally didn't believe the Darien bit - and he got corected pretty quickly. HA! I love it when I'm right! (what wife doesn't)

I don't know about that, I was born and raised in Connecticut and I've always called them shopping carts.

One thing that I've noticed is the term yard sale is used everywhere except CT where it is a tag sale.

Yeah, my husband (a Westchester native) still laughs when I call a carriage a buggy.

Another funny thing: waiting "on" line at the checkout, and not waiting "in" line.

We called them "garage sales" in TX

Me too! I have always called them shopping carts. Though those crazy people in Greenwich (and eastern NY counties) call grinders/subs "wedges" while the rest of the state doesn't
