I am very happy with this cold weather. I was able to get a nice layer of water on top of our rink , and my son went out on the ice and said, "hey, dad, this is like skating at the Yale rink." A proud moment for me. I sprayed more water on it after our morning skate and the whole thing made some very ominous crunching noises and cracked like a giant ice cube, a sure sign that it is very cold out and perfect ice making weather.

We're getting to the time of year when mixing becomes more involved.

Looks like rain to snow or just snow this evening and tonight.

That 22nd storm I saw last week is now a 24th storm. So it got slowed down. Euro has a big snowstorm for us. 12-18". GFS doesnt phase the storms....again. But other models dont agree with the Euro. So not sure yet,

Here's the snowtotals from the latest Euro upate up until Sunday 7pm..

Quick radar view. Strong 988mb storm heading into Canada spawning a front to move east. Snowing in PA now but notice the raindrop symbol, that means its turning to rain in that area according to report from Penn Valley airport there. Warm air will win ahead of the moisture.

How much snow will we get tonight? Do you expect driving conditions to be bad for late tonight?

Should be all rain except frozen stuff for higher elevations north of I-84. Not much at all... roads should be fine. I saw the salt trucks out so at least they are getting the roads ready. Temps in the 40s but should start dropping this afternoon

I'll take it (the big snowstorm) for the 24 (should be a Sunday if I have my math correct which probably isn't so someone correct me if I'm wrong). The times I'll be in Maine are Friday and possibly Saturday, thats assuming we win tonight. I was gonna stay over Saturday night as well and drive back that Sunday morning. Its still 5 days out, but what time did you expect that to hit, because I'd drive back Saturday if it was going to start early??
