We had a nice rain shower for several minutes, the rain was kind of heavy for a brief period of time.

If you get a locally heavy downpour between today and Wednesday, thank Isaac for that.

For record keeping purposes, the NWS defines "summer" as June 1 - August 31 (and Sept. 1 as the beginning of "fall") as opposed to the 'traditional' astronomical dates of June 21 - Sept. 23.

OKX noted on their Facebook page with this graphic that it was the 2nd warmest "meteorological summer" in Bridgeport's record, going back to 1948 (ironically they did not say which summer was Bridgeport's warmest). My only guess what Central Park ranked so low (27th) vs. the others (all in top 10) is perhaps more years of record and that perhaps there were a few warm summers in the late 1800s/early 1900s.

Wow to BDR!! Thanks. I knew I wasnt complaining for no reason. Whats really strange is that we didnt have many above 90 days and this does not factor in "real feel". I knew all the days in the 80s was just so persistantly warm. There was like no break.

You want a twist? Out of the 92 days of Summer this year, only 13 times has BDR been in the 90s. Thats a fact.

So isnt it amazing a location can end up being the 2nd warmest summer when just a small fraction of summer was in the 90s? And this June only had 6 days of 80s.

How cold was it in the past?

Probably means (as has been the trend in recent decades) the nighttime lows were a lot more "above normal" than the daytime highs were.....

I think its deceptive...Night time temps seem to be way higher especially in coastal areas. I'd like to see just high temps to normal and see how that fared.

I'll see if I can put something together.

Does this help for now? Figure Mid 80s is Normal on average. Low 80s for June. 23 days in August we were in the 80s. That helped too.

59 of 92 days were were in the 80s and 90s.

Ok, check it out...

Bridgeport, Sikorski, CT Climate Data - :: MichiganWxSystem

A good way to see the Lows compared to the normal. It is pretty interesting if you look close.

Yesterday, 3 below normal for the high yet the night lows were 3 above.
2 days ago...Night time lows were 5 above while daytime highs were 1 above.

So basically if the night lows were closer to normal the summer would have been a normal looking one on paper.

Thanks...makes a lot of sense. So the question is why are nights so much warmer?
