The latest Euro just said...Ba Bye 70s. (except for Thursday only). Euro is usually the warm bias one.

Then it shows this for around the 1st. Another nice rainstorm.

Who gets the feeling we'll be having a few cold rain storms soon?

I know some of you are waiting for the cooler/cold /cloudy weather...and that will come eventually when we get into late fall (November).

However, we really can't complain this year, our weather in the Tri-State area has been near perfection. I just got back inside - it is about 72 F outside, not a cloud in the sky, and a light breeze...not too hot....not too cold, just perfect. This week looks like another week of sunny skies, warm temps (70 F or higher) and dry (maybe some showers work through on Thur).

I wish we could keep this up right to early December....

4pm Upton update says clouds tonight will prevent frost. So No frost. I'm very curious if the northern counties get it though. Might be patchy which they do say is possible (patchy)

Then they mention frost possible for Monday night as well. lol What are the chances this pattern last 5 more months?

To be honest (and just playing the long term odds)…CWF (cold weather fans) should hope for a warmer than normal October and even November, then, the odds/chances will be much higher than the heart of the cold season (Dec – Feb) might be below normal. It seems that on the East Coast from about Rhode Island southward….just a “normal” winter is rather fleeting. You want those -2.5 to -4 F monthly mean temps in Dec – Feb for a lot of snow events and to keep what snow does fall on the ground.

In any event a cool night tonight - I think lows tonight near 50 F on the coast and 40’s inland (and maybe 30’s in the NW Mountains of CT/NY). My current temp here on the beach in southeast CT is 60.5 F. NWS Bridgeport is 64 F (as of 7:00 am obs). So I think temps should tumble at least 7 to 8 F tonight. Tonight might be NWS Bridgeport's chance to get under 50 F for the first time this month (and since spring). Rest of the week looks pretty typical for late Sept/early October, nights in the mid 40's to low 50's and days upper 60's to lower 70’s.

I bottomed at 45.2 right before it drizzled. Winds change to the south so no 30s tonight but we get to 40s again.

SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM TUESDAY/...

LONGWAVE TROUGH OVER THE NORTHEASTERN U.S. WILL CONTINUE TO
DOMINATE THE FLOW REGIME IN THE UPPER LEVELS. AT THE
SURFACE...HIGH PRESSURE PUSHES OFF THE EAST COAST TONIGHT...AND A
RETURN SOUTHERLY FLOW DEVELOPS. THIS WILL ALLOW THICKNESSES TO
INCREASE AND FOR SLIGHTLY WARMER LOW TEMPERATURES TONIGHT THAN
SUNDAY NIGHT. THEREFORE FROST WILL NOT BE A PROBLEM WITH
TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 40S IN THE NORMALLY COLDER SPOTS.

I bottomed out at 50.4 F here on the coast. From this mornings obs - NWS Bridgeport fell to 51 F...New Haven fell to 48 F....and Groton/New London 49 F. So it looks like the coast was near 48 - 51 F and inland fell into the 40's. Skies should become mostly sunny today with highs upper 60's to maybe 70 F in a few spots. One other note - NWS seems to have moved the showers this week to more mid week now. Not sure why though:
