But you said you were looking in Bristol. You would take 72 to 372....not that long of a commute.

Yeah, if it's in the central or eastern part of Bristol. That house is located in the far northeast corner of Bristol. It takes at least 10 min just to get the 72 from there.

That house is still much closer than Windsor Locks or Chester.
There are also a number of houses in Forestville that are minutes to the highway.

But Chester and Windsor Locks are more of a straight shot down I-91 or Route 9. Bristol, unfortunately, is the only city in CT that has no highway in it. You have to drive like 10 min just to get to 72. Not only that, the speed limit on 72 is only 55 max, the entire length. 91 and 9 allow up to 65 mph.

My friend commuted from Berlin to Chippens Hill which is even farther and less accessible than the northeast section. It was a 25 minute drive.

Route 9 gets bottled up in Middletown and it can be a pain.
Windsor Locks to Berlin has to go through Hartford traffic. Even as a straight shot it would take more than 25 mins. Also, depending where you are in Windsor Locks it can take 10 minutes to get to the highway since direct access isn't available near center street. You have to get on at exit 41 or 39.

Look harder or change your criteria. There seem to be literally hundreds of houses listed on realtor.com that meet your stated criteria.

Not really. You're probably not checking to see if the houses are located too close to a noisy highway. Many, many of them suffer from this situation or are located right on a busy road.

nep - You are doing this again??? We have gone through this with you before and quite frankly I do not think you will ever find a house that meets your very strict requirements. As we have told you before, this is your first home so you are going to have to make compromises. New single-family homes in your price are very rare here in Connecticut. Sorry that is just the way it is. We do not have the vast amounts of vacant land sitting waiting to be subdivided into lots for new lower priced homes. The towns you are looking at are all pretty well developed already so what little land is left carries a premium price. Welcone to the real world. Jay
