Brookfield is a fine town. We currently live in Brookfield. In terms of costs, Somers will be much more expensive for housing. In addition, the real estate taxes will be substantially higher as well. The commute should not be too bad, from Brookfield to Somers. Brookfield has alot to offer. It has plenty of shopping, restaurants, and outdoor activities. It is country living without being in the boonies. The schools are good, but I do not have any information to compare it against Somers though. However, I suspect the schools in Somers are very good as well. Whatever you can't find in Brookfield, you can find in Danbury or New Milford.
In addition, once the Super 7 gets extended, Brookfield will be much better because of the less traffic going through the four corners.
good luck.

I believe it will be completed in 2009. They are working quite fast by the look of the construction. I believe obtruse rock rd is off Route 133? That area is fine. One thing Brookfield has is that their aren't many areas that are not nice.

Brookfield schools perform well above the State average in the Connecticut Mastery Tests but the class sizes a bit larger than I normally like (over 20 students per class). That said Brookfield is a wonderful town with excellent amenities and would be a great place to raise a family.
Somers, New York is a nice suburban town in Westchester County and has a lot going for it. I do not know exactly, but I believe the schools there are very good. As others have said, you will most likely pay more for comparable homes in Somers than Brookfield. But you will be closer to New York City which has its advantages. You might try posting your questions on Somers on the New York Boards. I am sure you will get the answers you need there. Jay

My husband is a Somers native. It's beautiful up there, but from what my in-laws say, the taxes are outrageous and getting worse all the time. However, it's not a bad drive into the city (at least without traffic). I don't know a ton about Brookfield---seems like a nice place, but not sure whether it's worth the longer commute.

I have customers looking in the area coming from the Somers area. They told me the home prices are slightly less in Brookfield and the taxes would be about twice as much in Somers.

Brookfield, CT
I vote for Brookfield, CT! Many people i know do the commute to Somers and have no problem with it. Have you seen the subdivision on Whispering Glen? It's off of Route 133East. The homes are absolutely gorgeous....
