Moving from Michigan for a Job in Wallingford, CT where should I live
Dear Forum Members,
I am moving from Michigan to the lovely state of Connecticut for a job in Wallingford, CT.
The question I have is where would be a good place for me to live?
I am a young, mid 20's, educated, single, woman. I am looking for places to rent in the $700-$900 range, apartment or house is fine.
I grew up in the woods so I am fine living in them, but I am young and would like to socialize.
The other forum posts suggested Milford, but I am not sure if I want to have that long of a commute everyday. Is the 30 minute drive worth living there?
What is New Haven like?
Thank you for your time,
Alysha

$700-$900 is going to be VERY tough. If you actually think you can live in a decent place for that much money I would stay in Michigan.
Sorry

Sorry I do not agree. You can find a very nice apartment for that price in Wallingford itself. It is a nice town and very safe. There are a olot of stores and good restaurants. Don't expect a luxury place for that price but it still could be nice. Jay

I agree with Jay. You can get a one bedroom under $ 900 in Wallingford. Wallingford is a decent place to live. It has a cute , walkable center. It's convenient to local shopping and highways, with the big box stores not far away. The town is safe and centrally located. For a newcomer to the area it's a good place to start out.

Stick with Wallingford, maybe include Hamden. Wallingford has a few decent bars and you aren't far from New Haven, Middletown and Milford for nightlife. That budget wouldn't get you very far in Milford, and might put you in a bad neighborhood in New Haven.

Wallingford isn't known for having a singles scene. I'd start my search in Middletown.

I agree with others that Middletown would be more suitable for the OP. There are many more singles there and tons of young people. Wallingford might seem a little boring.

I'm in Middletown 10 mins north of Wallingford. I pay $890/month and there are vacancies. PM me for more info.
