Hi Guys~ I am looking to relocate myself and my 2 girls to the New Haven area in June 2013. From these boards and other research that I have done, it is probably going to be Branford that I go to. My question is- I have read that the condos (townhouses) near Walmart are not the best place to go- does anyone know the name of that townhouse community? Is it the Greens?

Thanks guys!!!!!

It's Montoya, and you definitely want to stay away from it. Its right off the highway separated from much of the town, off of the Wal Mart driveway. It's known for drugs and some violence. 75% of police calls in Branford are to Montoya.

There are LOTS of other condos available in Branford, but some can get pricey. How much can you spend? I can recommend some decent condos. There are also a few 2 family homes near downtown and in the Short Beach section of town that are nice and safe.

The Greens are south of Route 1 in Short Beach. I don't know much about them (which probably means they are okay) and they look decent.

Thank you......hope I didn't offend anyone with my post. But I am starting over with my 2 young daughters and do not know anything about Branford and just wanted to make sure. I am looking for something that is a tri-level and hopefully with a pool. Looking to spend tops $175,000. 2 bedroom is fine but then I need a finished basement for myself. Branford is safe right? And has a good school system and is family oriented? I would like a city that has a town center, and I noticed that Branford has that.
Thanks for your input.

Jamie

I would have loved to move to Clinton but it really does not have a townhouse community. My kids want to get to know other kids hopefully before school starts next year. Then I looked into Guilford but the townhouses that I like have a lake and my kids are not into lakes, we have them where we are now in NY.

$175k might be tough to grab in Branford, but yes it's a very safe suburb, the schools are good and there is a beautiful quaint town center.

Clinton and Guilford, while both very nice, don't have the amount of condos that are available in Branford.

Look at Zillow and you can filter your search. If you have any questions on neighborhoods, feel free to ask.

There are currently a few condos available in Branford right now that meet your criteria. They are in two complexes- - the Greens and Foxwood Crossing. IMO Foxwood Crossing is the nicer complex, simply as it is not as densely developed. Nothing wrong with the Greens, they are just packed in tightly together.

However, there are other condo complexes in town with basements, that's just what happens to be on the market at the moment. What's going to be available next spring and what prices will be then is anyone's guess.

Branford is a better choice for my 2 girls (ages 9 & 13) than Milford right?

Both are decent towns, and are similar so it doesn't really matter.

Is one closer to work than the other?
