lol Exit 8 Stamford? I seen it all too much.. and you know what pisses me off.. on the times I do get off exit 8 (I hate ex 7 because of the somewhat blind merge) I have people coming off the entrance ramp for 9 try and cut ME off because I'm getting off exit 8 thinking I don't know where I'm going.

I mean we were driving 2 cars in one lane.. I just looked at them and shook my. head

But on most day I stay to the far left because I know of all the crazy stuff that happens in that area.

And you are doing 80-85 Mph? When is too fast too fast?

I've heard the reason for some of this behavior is that people don't want to deal with traffic merging on and off in the right lane, so they sit in the left lane.

Why are you assuming I'm doing 80-85 mph? Maybe I'm in the middle lane not able to move because the passing lane is backed up.

Driving with people that are from the area (ny / ct) is so much easier than people from MA going 55mph when were all trying to go 80mph.

Where are there Mass people trying to go 55? Most I see are darting in and around traffic trying to 90. They really are the worst on the road IMHO. Jay

Very true. Sometimes, aggressive driving is provoked. The left lane is for passing, but many drivers seem to have skipped that part of the driving handbook. It creates a dangerous situation when left lane campers force other drivers to engage in all sorts of maneuvers to get around them.

Of course, some drivers are just aggressive. In all honesty, I am always one of the fastest drivers on the road. Not sure if I could be considered an aggressive driver, because I don't really tailgate, but I do like to move the speedo needle to the right, and I get annoyed when I am needlessly impeded from doing so.

wow.. no need to get bent out of shape I'm saying in general when is too fast too fast? I've noticed in that whole area people will ride 2 seconds behind you no matter what speed.

I drive fast. 70-80ish usually. It's odd but on the merritt I notice a left lane blocker almost always seems to be NY, MA, NJ. I'm not talking about when there's traffic, I'm talking Sunday morning, 7am, four cars in view, one in the right lane doing 60, out of state in the left lane doing 60.5mph.

So frustrating.

I also don't tailgate but around here, sometimes you have to be a little aggressive when changing lanes.

Don't forget that the "reverse" of this behavior also happens up in the Hartford area; Exit 29 (if memory serves) where traffic typically backs up for those trying to get onto I-84 East. People will cut INTO the Exit Only lane at the very last minute.

Another prevelant area is the Sikorsky Bridge in Stratford, where you would exit onto the Connector (which takes you to I-95 and Route 1). People LOVE to cut in at the last minute, which causes a cascading domino effect of everyone slamming on their brakes. I've almost been rear-ended several times over the last few years because of this.
