Default Train commutes

Hi everyone -

I have a great offer from a company in Hartford.

But i want to live on roosevelt island.

What are the commute times via a train,
and what train/subway would i use??

What are the rates of these trains per trip?

thanks
tony

I think that'd be really hard.

The Amtrak from Hartford to Penn Station takes 2-3 hours, and is 50-60 dollars each way.

The Greyhound from Hartford to Port Authority takes about 3 hours (often longer, I took it a bunch when I was in college and it was over an hour late about half the time), and is about 50$ round trip. I'm pretty sure those are the only two options, unless there's a daily commuting shuttle run by a limo company.

Since that's not including the time it'd take to travel from the station to home/work, I expect you'd be spending all your waking time traveling or working.

If you want regular access to NYC, or your partner works in the city, maybe try New Haven as a halfway point? That's just an hour into Hartford, and an hour-and-a-bit into NYC, with plenty of urban amenities.

That commute would be awful, long, and expensive to boot.
