In the Hartford-New Haven "Corridor"

Looking for a peaceful place to walk around and relax outside.

West Hartford Reservior. Nice 3.3 mile walking loop through the reserviors. If you are into hiking there is also the Metacomet Trail (aka the blue trail) which goes through the reservior but keeps going.

I can't speak for the Hartford area/northern CT....but things are still mostly green in the New Haven area. The last week of October is really when the color comes really come out in the New Haven area. I would go up to the far NW portion of CT to see color next week.

Still the best colors are above the Tri-State area I think.

I drove down the southern Berlin Turnpike a few days ago and the hills to the east were looking really nice. I think the colors down in ct are great. They just come in later than some of the northern states.

Here's a few places I like to take my camera during October and early November, some of which a few people already mentioned:

1. Talcott Mountain /Heublein Tower (Simsbury)
2. Penwood State Park (Bloomfield)
3. West Hartford reservoir
4. Hubbard Park / Castle Craig (Meriden)
5. Walnut Hill Park (New Britain)
6. Wickham Park (Manchester)

I also make an effort to try to visit family in New Jersey so I can ride the Merritt Parkway - that to me is the ultimate as far as scenery. Visually it's stimulating but I also feel it can be relaxing, as long as you're not on it during peak hours.

In southwest CT you could try Sleeping Giant, West Rock, Old Mine in Trumbull, Devil's Den, Eisenhower and Wilcox Parks in Milford, Huntington State Park. Also Devil's Hopyard and really the whole lower CT Valley is stunning. Maybe stop in Chester as it's a really picturesque village.

I also like Roxbury/Warren/Kent. Drive up Route 7, around Lake Waramaug, maybe up to Litchfield. Gorgeous.
