I know this sounds silly but I learned it from experience.

Make sure you have a manual can opener. So many of us use electric openers that we forget the importance of having a manual opener in case of power outages.

This article says in one part of it that the entire population of Atlantic City, NJ is being bused to shelters:

I’m familiar with that area to some degree; If your located on the upper portion on Indian Neck Road (146) – meaning where Indian Neck Road turns into Maple Street (and goes into the center of town)…I think you’ll be fine.

If you located further down INR – below Bud’s Fish Market…Lenny’s…etc where INR gets very close to sea level (the marsh runs through this spot as well), I would watch the high tide cycles on Sunday. If there is serious storm surge flooding, you might have some issues in that you can’t go south down Limewood Ave (the part of 146 that runs right along the water)…and you might not be able to get above Block Island Road if the road floods as the storm surge comes in (and it is only a few feet above sea level here).

Relax, talk to some of the locals down there to see where it floods, and watch the tide cycles on Sunday. You have time to make your decision midday on Sunday.

We're three blocks from the marina where the Lobster Shack is so I guess we'll be fine--I hope.

I'm brand new to CT ( and to hurricanes) so I'm ignorant about if my area should be evacuated. I live in Groton by the sub base, maybe two blocks away from the thames. Is that area prone to flooding?

Cruz, you live about a mile from me. Which exact neighborhood are you in (you can DM me)? I am in the area of the Avenues and we were told to leave by 6 PM tomorrow night. Hope you respond back...

You should call your local PD or FD if you are unsure. Don't assume.
