Nothing will happen. We're not really going to get any wind, and we're probably not even going to get much rain.

Just a rainy day at the absolute most.

I hope so.. and I'm telling myself so too. Full moon and high tide wont help those living along the shore.

Just to remind everyone... over the summer we've seen flash flooding from just 2" that fell in an hour.

Clouds associated with Hurricane Sandy cover an area more than 1,500 miles from near S. America to near Bermuda

None of the weather maps that are being posted in this thread are in any way indicating that this storm will even begin to approach severe strength. Your average CT thunderstorm is 90% likely to have been stronger than this storm would be in the remote chance that it even grazes CT.

Oh sh*t, clouds!? Everybody run and hide...don't wanna be a victim of...CLOUDS! Those poor people in Bermuda, what ever will they do?

Cambium, no offense, but I don't think your tone is reflective of the overall non-event nature of this situation.

Well Cambium's map seems to show that it's already clear as close as central/southern NJ, so I'd say good. I'm hearing nice through Saturday then Sunday depends on where Sandy goes and then barring a complete turn to sea at least clouds and some rain after that.

Regarding how "unbelievable" it is I have three thoughts on it, one of which is the opposite of the other 2:

1) On one hand, even the day before "Snowtober" they were saying flurries/wet non-sticking snow for NYC and even some of the CT coast because they thought anything otherwise was "unbelievable".

2) But on the other hand, while Irene was significant in terms of storms that hit this region, it certainly did not live up to the hype.

3) Though thinking about #1, I wonder if the 1938 storm were today, if the NWS, the NHC, etc. would underestimate or overestimate it? (it was an extremely rare Cat 3 landfall over central/eastern LI; but the relatively lack of population there minimized what was still significant damage.....NYC being on the west side of the storm got more rain than wind, but it was enough to completely flood EVERY subway from 59th street on down (and many above 59th as well).

One thing I notice, everyone is talking about Sandy compared to Irene, what about compared to Floyd? I honestly think that storm had much worse flooding and perhaps slightly worse wind than Irene.....
