Check out the link I posted previously- according to it there are 56 towns that use resident troopers. But some towns have more than one. As of April 2011, there were 115 resident state troopers, not 32.

Not that it makes any difference, I don't see what the argument is you two are having is about resident versus troopers assigned to a barracks.

I'm talking about the troopers that the towns pay 70% of - which is the "chief" resident trooper in each town. There are not many of those. There are a total of 117 in the state, but most are on "assignment to patrol" based out of a troop rather than a town police department. The "chief" resident trooper is assigned to a town building. Many of the larger-small-towns have their own town force overseen by the "chief" resident trooper - like Oxford.

The arguement stems from the claim that towns pay 70% of all trooper salaries. That is far from the truth.

Apparently this was caught on video:

Police: State Trooper's Theft Caught On Video - Courant.com

The other trooper, DiCocco, knew what happened and did not reveal any details until questioned. His integrity should be questioned as well IMO (you can read the addadavit online).

This is pretty horrible! To me is makes no sense to risk your career over some jewelry?

The police are a little crazy and this doesn't surprise me.

your statement is well.said.
lately the police are more than crazy, many of them are just downright corrupt!
Gov. Malloy needs to start firing these cops if he wants the state to save money
And stay Safe!

The cops themselves are crooks themselves lately!
Why is there so much police corruption all over the state lately?
.They get great salaries but do not want to do their jobs properly.

That said, there seems to be a bandwagon that everyone hops on when something goes wrong with police officers - the profession as a whole is shamed. "Their pay is too high!" "They're bullies!" "Overtime!" "Overtime!" "Overtime!"

Jeesh, people need to give it a rest.

Nope! The cops need to give it a rest!
Stop violating folks basic civil rights, putting them in harm's way, &
committing crimes against innocent citizens!
That isn't what cops are paid to do!
Cops r paid to enforce, not break the law.

Which explains why so many people are moving out of Conn. now.

well if you are actually close friends with cops, yet you yourself think
you can be impolite and insult people on a.forum that prohibits rude,
offensive comments in the TOS here, it all makes sense.
Stop being so hypocritical & rude to people on this forum kidyankee.
..Saw you insulted someone who.lost power due Irene last fall & were being so.rude & mean to.them, even though their electricity was out for days!

Folks don't want to buy things from the sponsors of a forum where they're allowed to speak their mind, but get constantly insulted by people like Kidyankee!

I'm not insulting anyone. The problem is that too many people paint with a broad brush and/or spout ignorant comments that are not true. I corrected some individuals by providing facts over their opinion or what they perceived to be fact.

The people who blame the police for everything either:

1. Have had run-ins with the law a few times; and/or
2. Pay too much attention to what the media tells them.

actually, kidyankee, lots of people are seeing with their own eyes, how
corrupt, abusive & unethical many cops are now in the Nutmeg state.
They're having their safety or their very lives put at risk, & also
having their very civil rights violated by dishonest, corrupt cops in Connecticut.

A 12 year old boy in East Hartford who wasn't committing any crime
at all, was badly injured by an abusive, unethical Police officer named
Tinsley, I believe, in the boy's own home.
Officer Tinsley put the 12 year old in a headlock, & the boy had to go
the Hospital becuase he sustained face & neck injuried inflicted by
that abusive police officer!
