Does anyone know if Naugatucks school system is better that Bridgeports?
Also are there any movie theatres in Naugatuck?
Thank you.

I would MUCH rather send my children to Naugatuck schools over Bridgeports. Naugatuck is your average suburb with an OK school district - Bridgeport's schools suffer from your usual urban issues (gangs, violence, etc).

The closest theaters to Naugatuck will be in Waterbury or Seymour.

Both Naugatuck and Bridgeport schools perform below the state averages on the Connecticut Mastery and Connecticut Academic Performance tests, though Naugatuck students perform better than Bridgeport. Also class sizes in Naugatuck are reasonable (around 20 students per class) while Bridgeport's are higher (over 20 students per class). Because of this, I would have to agree that Naugatuck schools are better than Bridgeport. You can review the data on the district for yourself using the link below. Jay

boy, if everyone used those strategic profiles, the schools in Connecticut's larger cities would be filled with poor people and people who don't care about their children's education. Good thing this isn't the case.

If there's something that you like about the school, put the school into Google and see if there is any articles about it. Many of the inner city schools in Connecticut and the northeast are going over to a "schools within schools" model. This means that although there are certain populations within these schools that do not succeed academically, there are other high performance programs within these schools that help students achieve their dreams.

I grew up in Naugatuck and went to public school thru 8th grade. We then moved to Middlebury so I went to high school in region 15 (southbury, middlebury) Boy what a world of difference education was between those 2 towns.

As for areas in Naugatuck. I'd stay away from the downtown and immediate vicinities of the naugatuck river. There is a section called union city. You don't want to be there either.

Sought after locations in Naugatuck include but not limited the western and eastern borders. Areas where it borders Middlebury and Oxford on the west and Prospect and Bethany on the east.

Good luck!!!

This is very true, which is why Fairfield University recently started a program to give students from Bridgeport who succeed academically a full scholarship.
