How safe is 4th st and surrounding area of East Norwalk? I would be taking the train, would I be safe walking at night from the East Norwalk train station to that area? I have been getting a lot of conflicting information!

Perfectly safe. I used to live on Adams and would walk from the East. Norwalk train station occasionally - or leave my car on the side streets just to the north of it (Fort Point St) every time I went into the city. The only sketchy place that folks consider in that area is the area north of Van Zant/136 and south of 1-95 and only because that's largely Hispanic. Used to run down Cove and then cut across 2/3/4th to Calf Pasture Beach daily and it was good as can be.

I used to live in East Norwalk on Cottage St. I'm a young (mid-20's female) and I'd say it is relatively safe to walk to/from the metro from 4th. Van Zant can be a little sketchy, but you really won't need to walk by there.

this is helpful thank you! greenday87 I don't know if you know Stamford at all but if you do, would you say the walk from E. Norwalk train station to 4th is similar (safety wise) as a walk from the Stamford train station to downtown (bedford street area)? I do that walk from the Stamford train and feel fine usually, unless it is very late (like 2 am late). Thank you for your advice!

You're more likely to be hit by a car than anything else.
