I just did the quick mill rate math on Glastonbury vs. E Hartford. If you had a car worth $20K, you will pay $240 more per year in East Hartford.

The only thing I would caution you about is something I ran into when I lived in a higher mill rate city. It also had a higher crime rate, which seriously jacked up my auto insurance. Not that it would be a deal breaker for you, but the sticker shock for that first insurance bill almost made me keel over.

all things to consider in terms of taxes, insurance rates, we have good driving records, and in Glastonbury we pay rougly $100 a month combined for a 2004 pickup and a 2010 SUv, both fords. Now we add on another lets say 240 a year for car taxes for my wife's SUV, and then another $100 or so for my pickup, interesting for sure. Maybe pays to expand my serach to other towns with less of a mill rate.
