We saw a nice house online on Lake Avenue in Greenwich. Have not been up to the house yet. Any opinions on whether Lake Avenue is just too busy of a street to live on? It appears to be a main artery to the Merritt. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!

Lake Avenue is a long road and portions of it are very busy. North of the Merritt it is not too bad but as you get to the south, there is a lot of traffic. Only you and your family can decide if you would not mind living on such a busy road. Having grown up on a busy road, I would caution you against it. JMHO, Jay

Lake Ave is often used as a cut through from southern to central Greenwich and the parkway. If the house is set far enough back, you should be fine. I wouldn't want to live along it though, but I'm a quiet street and neighborhood kind of guy.

Where on Lake Ave, what's the closest cross st? Are you talking about the beginning, close to the circle? Or farther out near or past the Merritt? The very beginning of Lake Ave is pretty busy, so it makes a difference. If it's the very beginning of the street, you're going to be really close to Greenwich Hospital, so there's that noise to consider - on top of the circle being the main artery that leads from mid/backcountry to downtown.

That said, it's not the Post Rd (US1)... I guess it depends what you're used to. People coming from the city probably wouldn't think anything of it, there's some vitality, and the convenience is great. But in general you'll probably have to wait for a bunch of cars to go by when pulling out of your driveway, and that can get old fast. If the house is even a little bit up on Lake Ave, it's not much of an issue (IMO).

Thanks, all. Looks like it was very close to Greenwich Hospital. Too busy for me. Thanks for all the responses.
