We are looking into the Canton, Simsbury, Farmington area. I am not sure how much the cost of living is in those areas. Would an income of around 70-75k be enough to live in one of those towns? We would be renting and not buying a house yet.
will give you median household income, as well as many other facts. Renting is not as prominent in those towns, as most people are single family homeowners. If you're looking to just rent while deciding on a house, maybe renting in a different and less expensive town would be smart for the time being.
I have looked at those figures, but I was not sure how accurate they are. Some websites have different numbers...I figured someone from the area might have a better idea. Thanks for the reply.
Farmington has a few more rentals then other towns becasue of the nearby UCONN health center/hospital. The other toens have owned single family homes and townhouses.
For more of a choice for rentals you would have to look at West Hartford.

Thanks for any info!
To answer your question, yes you can live very comfortably on a $70-75k income in these towns. there are many people that live in this area that make less than this and are doing fine. All three have a range of housing options and hopefully one that will suit your needs. Good luck, Jay
