That area is Whiskey Hill. Treeland is to the east of there on the other side of Route 8/25 and Beardsley Park. It is a very safe area. Jay

You always have the information, Jay. I should know this area, but I really don't.

I use this map when researching an area:

Mapping the 2010 U.S. Census - NYTimes.com

City Data's map is also similar so you can find a compatible area with a low crime rate.

I know this post is over a year old, but I have a similiar question. I am looking into purchasing a house in Whiskey Hill. It is on Voight Ave. A block away from Resevoir and Trumbull Ave, near Trumbull Gardens. Is this an area I should avoid. I was told this was the North Side, a good decent area.
Thanks for your help

Avoid the area It is better on the othe side of Main St by John Winthrop, Sacred Heart, 2000 Block of Madison Ave and higher up till Trumbull Line, It kinda nice by Park Ave going toward Scared Heart, Westfield Ave area. The property taxes a kinda high

Checkout Black Rock west of Ellsworth St it decent especially by St Mary by the sea it is nice with well kept homes and clean sidewalks. You are less than 2 mins from all the bars, pizza places and Post Road Shopping areas over in Fairfield and Fairfield Metro Train Station.

If u have kids school system is poor.

If it's cheap, it's cheap for a reason. On the surface, that area is deceptive. It doesn't look "bad". But in reality, it isn't good. Avoid....
