Not to get off topic but Mercedes and BMW have horrible reliability and repairs cost a fortune while Acura's reliability is excellent (guess which one I own). That said Ridgefield schools are excellent but so are New Canaan. The OP cannot go wrong with either town and only personal preference should weigh in their decision. Jay

Let me guess - you're a Consumer Reports guy?

Not entirely. But that is just one of a couple of sources I use. Jay

I wasn't talking about reliability. Focused on desirability. Also car brand categorization. Acura is near luxury, while Porsche, Lexus, Mercedes and BMW are luxury brands.

Not to further go off topic, but in my experience BMW and Porsche are both very solid in reliability. Audi/VW did have a lot of issues in the past, but seem to be getting better. I do agree Acura is not at the same level as other luxury brands, both from a product and perception standpoint. They're good cars for someone looking for a lot of bang for the buck.

I disagree. I would absolutely put Acura in the luxury bracket. I would also add Volvo, Infinity, Audi and Cadillac. Now if we're talking performance, I would agree that BMW and Mercedes are up there with Porsche.

I have one of each, both fairly new. Love them both, but I'll let you know in a few years how they've held up. The Touareg is now being driven to Stamford everyday, so it actually may be less than a few years.

Acura doesn't put itself in the luxury bracket.

Acura to Tweak ILX in Quest to Shed

Interesting read. I still view Acura as being a luxury brand, though.

The ILX has to be the ugliest car I've seen in awhile. Looks like a Mazda.

Me too, especially Fridays in the summer. Kid, does Shoreline East / MetroNorth not work for her commute?
