Moving to Long Island in July, but need to have my kids finish the school year, last day is June 19th. We plan to rent on LI.

My issue is that I don't want to lose valuable "on market" time, but it's a risk putting it up that I might sell sooner than I anticipate and be out of a house.

I know that nobody can predict when and for how much the house will sell, but is Spring generally a stronger selling time, or early summer, or something else?

An agent once told me the same thing. If you put on the market in February, itt gives the agents time to see the place and then bring buyers around in the spring. Most buyers want to move as soon as the school year ends so they have the summer to settle in before sending their kids back to school in August. Jay

You can always arrange for closing to be pushed off until late June, or you can close sooner and rent back the house from the future owners for a couple of months.
