I'm trying to find a safe place to rent near the university of hartford. I'm looking into Bloomfield and possibly Wethersfield, but I want to be relatively close to the school and be able to access 91 and 84 easily. Can someone please help me out and tell me the not so nice areas of hartford to look in. I know the studio apartments are cheaper in hartford, but I'm assuming it's because it isn't in a nicer area. Any help is much appreciated!

Have you decided on a budget yet? That will largely determine where you end up. If you can afford it, there's a nice, large apartment complex just up the road from the university on Route 189/Bloomfield Ave called Hawthorne Apartments. I'm not sure if there's other students there, but they're just up the road from campus. You may want to get a roommate, though. These don't look cheap.

Wethersfield is nice but it's further from campus. There's a good number of rentals in Hartford, the actual city, that are closeby. A ton are on Farmington and Asylum Avenues, and many of them are nice, even if they lack modern amenities like central air or gyms. Where were you looking, just out of curiosity?

I'd rent somewhere in West Hartford. The school straddles the border between WH and Hartford, and that part of Hartford isn't the greatest. West Hartford is ideal as it's very close, and has a decent population of younger people with nightlife and dining options. You'll find that lacking in Bloomfield and Wethersfield as they're more family orientated. I'd count out Wethersfield just based on distance.

Wethersfield is really not that far from UHart. I do agree though to be closest would be West Hartford and Bloomfield. Another good option but like Wethersfield is further away would be Newington. You would just have to cut through West Hartford everyday to get to campus. Jay

Bloomfield and Windsor seem like they might be the closest.. But Hartford should be an option if you are looking into Wethersfield.

Essentially the whole area is pretty small.

Are you a student?
if so, There is student housing in downtown Hartford that seems failry ideal. its along temple street.

If you are staff or faculty, then Im sure you can find nice apartments in the area, it just depends on budget. within 3 miles in any direction, the rents can go from incredibly cheap to incredibly expensive.
