I'm a young professional male moving to CT and thinking of renting an apartment at Park Place Apartments. Will be working in downtown Hartford so the commute is great. Can anyone tell me about this complex or about the area--especially safety. Though I have lived in a suburb area all my life, I am not afraid of cities--there is crime everywhere; I just don't want to be in an area where I am afraid for my safety or property.

Are you talking Park Place Towers? Near Laurel street?

Nice place...you should have few to no issues. You are on the better side of Laurel Street, and near the nicer part of Park Street.

My aunt lived there in one of the 3 level town houses and she loved it. There are a lot of amenities too.

Thank you BlackLibrary

Yes, it is Park Place Towers on Park Place...looks like it is just off of Laurel Street. I have heard some negative comments about the Frog Hollow and Pope Park areas and just wanted to get some feedback on the apartment complex and the area.

The Building itself is safe due to security and the residents themselves that live there, but you walk a couple of blocks in any direction, safety can be a concern. You can easily notice that with the houses and people that walk those streets.

I used to live here on the 21st floor and loved it! The view was spectacular. I worked at 1 State St and had 3 options to get to work: I would either drive, take the bus on Park St or walk across the capitol. True Park St can be a little rough, but I never felt unsafe. Laurel & Capital Ave were fine. Now granted I lived there over 12 years ago so things could have changed, but I think Hartford's truly "challenging" times were before that.

I actually used to walk down Park St too, but more so to enjoy the sights and it was a alternate way to get to Main St although I only did this during the daylight.

The neighborhood there is improving but I am not sure that is true for the complex itself. We have had a number of people complain here about the condition of the buildings and management. That was a while ago though. You might try to search this forum fo rpast posts on this vcomplex and other apartments in Hartford. Jay

I will say this...if you are moving from any other urban city in North America, you will have few to no problems with Frog Hollow and Pope Park. Park street is a vibrant area and improving. As a young man coming up in the world, you will have little to know problems.

Obviously, any area in the big city at night is not the best. This holds true in any urban city. You have to stay aware, and avoid unlit areas. But it is no big deal at all.

Park Place towers is secure, as mentioned before.

Surbanites in CT tend to have a bit of an "over-reaction" to all CT cities. I say this as gently as I can.
