Does anyone else hate Charter internet/phone as much as me? Today is the 2nd time in the past couple of months (I know that may not sound like a lot but when you work from home it is) where service has been out for hours and hours (with no eta) due to a service outage in my area. I know it was windy last night but my DirecTV is perfectly fine (and everyone says that satellite can't handle bad weather...).

Fortunately the last time it went down (for over 12 hours) I bought a cheap Virgin Mobile hotspot so I am able to get connected, albeit very slowly, and I can work, but Charter really needs to get their act together.

Any idea if FIOS is ever going to come this way (Trumbull)?

We had tropical storm force winds last night (and I believe hurricane-strength gusts). There are about 80,000 people without power. Be patient.

We also have Charter phone- when it works it's fine, the second you lose power it's gone. I'm thinking of ditching it and going back to a regular landline. At least when we lose power (which is all the time!!!) we'll have phone service available.

Oh man, now I feel bad for complaining... though last time it happened there were no weather issues.

Isn't u-verse much slower (though perhaps more reliable) as far as internet?

I never found Charter to be as fast as they advertised. I'm pretty happy with my speeds. I have the 2nd best speed on U-Verse.

Would you mind posting your up/down speeds from speedtest.net? I get really good speeds from Charter (30 down/4 up) and i'm afraid that i'll get much lower speeds from u-verse.

Thanks!

We rarely lose internet with Charter unless we lose power. By the time we get our power back we have always had our internet back, though.

I have Uverse and have never had a problem with the internet. Mine works just as fast as it did with Cox and Comcast.
