I drive the speed I choose regardless of speed limit. Therefore, an increase in the speed limit will not change the speed I choose to drive, only the possibility of being cited for speeding.

Yeah, I feel comfortable doing 80MPH, traffic & conditions allowing for it, of course. So an increase to a 75MPH limit wouldn't make me drive 100. But I don't see how your second sentence follows the first. Typo?

It makes sense. To use your example of feeling comfortable driving 80mph, he says he's going to do 80 mph no matter what the speed limit is. However, if the speed limit was increased from 65 to 75mph, his risk of getting a speeding ticket will change accordingly (decrease).

Ah. I read it as though dazzleman was saying it would increase the chances, forgetting that a decrease is a possibility as well.

I think it's totally reasonable that the speed limit be 75, and a variance of 5MPH over and under is accepted, but 80 and above and you're susceptible for a ticket. That's exactly how it works now, but with speed limit signs that everyone ignores.

If someone drives 55 (the current limit) on 95 in rush hour traffic that's moving swiftly, they should get a ticket. It's dangerous and disrupts the flow of traffic.

It's not an interstate, but still a highway, but I got pulled over in Beacon Falls on route 8 going 70....man I was pissed that day, LOL.

I ended up getting a ticket. This was like 8 years ago, but I think it got dropped down to a moving violation like using your phone while driving so instead of the $220 fine for speeding I only had to pay like $20, so I just ended up paying it.
