Makes sense. I'm not sure what Wilton's is but ours is around 25.

In a town like Westport with a low mill rate, car taxes will be hundreds, not thousands, of dollars. Unless, of course, you're driving around in a Bentley. Even with the car tax, Scarsdale's tax burden is greater than Westport's.

Yep. In Westport, they would have to be driving two vehicles assessed at 40k+ to hit $1,000 per year.

If they can deal with the commute, they're much better off in Westport. I do think they should consider Darien or Greenwich though.

I am not the expert on the amount of the car tax as I don't live in CT, I base the numbers on C-D forums and elsewhere, you all who live there would know better. I assume the $2000 I quoted is someone with say 2 brand new luxury cars as I remember seeing that number as an extreme in a forum somewhere. I generally seem to hear amounts of $500-999. But as I said and you agree, the property taxes in Scarsdale are THOUSANDS higher, high as most Fairfield County property taxes are compared to most of the US, they pale compared to many upper-end Westchester towns, which seem to have the highest property taxes in the entire US.

Being Jewish in Westport is no biggie. Both reform and conservative synagogues, as well as Chabad and Reconstructionist. Seventh grade means two bar mitzvahs every weekend.
