Ok so signed contract to sell my condo last night, a lot can still happen, buyer still trying to secure financing, but if all goes through will be out by June. Plan is to relocate with Metlife south, however, we are looking for a place, that would possibly let us rent month to month until I can transfer, and can't pass up a buyer for my current home that wants in by June. Any suggestions? Can't move in with family, they are all in NY and our jobs are here.

Not a clue, besides a Residence Inn. Most landlords want a long term tenant. Good luck though, I hope you find it!!

How long after June would you be staying in CT if you were to move down south with MetLife?

One idea is to look for private landlords around Middletown who are looking for tenants during the summer while the off-campus Wesleyan students are out of school. Plus, I'd bet they are more open to negotiating with you than working with students who are a higher risk for trashing property.

Try the apartments on Loomis Drive in West Hartford, managed by Udolf. I'm pretty sure they will let you do month to month. Udolf Properties - Residential

looking to move hopefully in the fall at latest, just if buyer for my home gets financing, I can't pass up opportunity to sell my home, and would be willing to pay an extra $100-150 a month to let us rent month to month for a short time, our credit is good, etc etc just can't commit to a year since I know I won't be in CT for a year longer if my home sells. Tough situation

ctwhitechin, hope things are going well and you can sell your home as planned. In our MetLife office this week, we got some rough dates (not exact dates) of when our jobs are transitioning to NC. Hope it goes well with your short term rental in CT before you move south. Please keep us posted on where you may rent down south, since I'd like to pass this info along to my coworkers.

A lot of the jobs in our office won't be able to move until 2014 or 2015, due to the long training period needed for the new associates. So, people here have time, but some are saying they want to start trying to sell their homes now, since in RI especially, the housing market is still quite slow and it could take a year to sell your house. The rough part is, though, their current job may not be posted for another year and without a guarantee they'll get their current job, it's hard to know what to do and when.
