Aha! I got an email back from the captain. Looks like the galley is pretty complete with a two burner propane stove and oven. Dunno if it's gimbaled or not, but it doesn't sound like the ocean conditions will be to where it matters much. Refrigeration off the motor supplemented with ice. That shouldn't be any problem. He says the galley is fully stocked with pots and pans and a French press so coffee should be handled. Whew! No instant coffee, we're good. Guess we can take some pre-ground Kona along although we may break out the good stuff instead.

We start in Branford and go to Stonington, then three days of racing and ending up off Block Island. Back to Stonington since that's where the dinghy got dropped. Then Newport, R.I. with a day in Newport. Then on to Cuttyhunk Island. Wednesday's to Martha's Vineyard, "Lake Tashmoo", which I guess is the port? Thursday ashore wandering around, something about walking to Vineyard Haven? Friday, the boat would move to Oak Bluffs where all that interesting gingerbread houses are and that's about it so far.

Does anyone know roughly how much it is per night to dock a boat or moor off in Connecticut?

Vineyard Haven has boat space on two sides of it. One side is Vineyard Haven Harbor, the other side is Lake Tashmoo. Lake Tashmoo will be either moorings or anchorages. You'll have to call the harbormaster to see what might be available to you. There's a dinghy dock and it's maybe a 15-20 minute walk to town center, shops, restaurants from there.

There are a couple of boatyards in Stonington Harbor itself, one nearby in a cove and a couple of others in
the Pawcatuck section of town, on the Pawcatuck River.

Prices will depend on whether you're mooring or docking and will charge per foot of vessel. Rates change by year. You might want to check with your fellow racers and see if they have already made reservations, where and what they are paying. Harbormaster may also be able to help

Fortunately, I'm just the cook on this voyage. I'll let my father-in-law work out the details since it's his boat and his nickname is "Captain Bligh", I'm not about to get too involved. I was just wondering how expensive this sort of thing is and if we should see about cruising for a couple of weeks after the races. I wouldn't mind cruising for a month, but if it's gonna be that expensive, then we'd want to help with the mooring fees somehow. I think he prefers to moor instead of pay money for dock space, him being the frugal sort. The boat is somewhat over 30' but not by a lot, I don't think so dock expenses shouldn't be that much, I hope. It is a very beamy boat, though, so there should be plenty room for three aboard.
