Hi, living in the Waterbury area and working at the local hospital. Either looking to buy or rent. Few questions looking to be asked about the area, how much, buy or rent, and where to look. So I have the option to pay off my mom's condo in two years for $650-$800 as she is moving out. However, trying to decide should I rent or buy. I have a monthly salary of $2100. Pay car bill of $200, insurance $175, weekly gas bill $30, gym bill of $20 a month, a $250 monthly deduction from my account to savings, and cell phone bill of $100 a month. I have $1400 worth of credit card debt looking to pay off by the end of summer.

As a first time renter what should I look for in terms of a monthly rental? Also where to look? I am looking to try an rent in the towns of Waterbury, Middlebury, Woodbury, Watertown, Oakville, Beacon Falls, Shelton, Prospect, Bethelem, and Thomaston area.

Appreciate the feedback.

You have the option to stay in your moms condo and take over the payments? That's a win - I would do that.

Agreed. Closing costs, PMI, etc. etc. is a big hit financially. Plus, you know the place so there shouldn't be any surprises.
