Well, it is a pretty short walk to the garage at harboryard (maybe 200 yards), which has some security people and everything. There are lovely elevated covered walkways from the garage to the train, but they were just built and they are not open yet.

I've always felt safe at that station during daylight hours, there are always plenty of other commuters around. I don't know what it's like at 9:00 PM- if it's deserted, I wouldn't feel that great about it. But once the covered walkways to the parking garages are open, I think it would be fine- well-lit, open, and emergency call boxes installed.

Hello!
I plan to move to Fairfield County from NYC and I intend to commute to work. I am particularly interested in Fairfield; however, I heard horrible stories about commute parking. Are there any free pariking spots available next to Metro North? What other cities should I look into?

Minia - Most parking lots near Metro North stations charge to park. The key would be to get monthly parking permits which are difficult to find. I believe Bridgeport has some garages near their station. Jay

I am confused by this. Will you be working in the Town of Fairfield or are you saying you will be working in Fairfield County? What are you considering Stamford for, work or to live? Please clarify so we can help you. Jay
