Yep. There's that, too.

Some stations always have paid parking. I've confirmed this several times AFTER rush hour in New Haven, Milford and Bridgeport. I'd also be surprised if the paid parking at SoNo and Stamford ever filled up 100%. Also heard that Fairfield Metro usually has spots.

Smaller stations do fill quickly. The point is there's usually an option.

New Haven and Bridgeport nearly always have garage parking, regardless of time/date. Milford does have $5 parking. It's still nicer to be able to have a guaranteed spot as a permitholder, though.

The rules of this forum do not really allow rants but I will let this one go. I will say that just because the construciton workers look like they are not doing anything, does not mean that they are not working. They could be waiting for materials or for recently poured concrete to cure. Believe me, a contractor is not going to let a worker sit around and do nothing if they do not have to. Time is money. Jay

These stations do have parking available but its not very economical to pay $6-10 bucks every day on top of buying a train ticket and then be stuck at work without a car. I know Milford has a three year waiting list. I'm on it!

The OP is right. The mentality of the denial brigade is going to kill this state. We have a major problem with transportation and we're not facing up to it.

Exactly. Denial helps nobody.

The first step toward recovery: admitting there is a problem.

True , but then what?

I can tell you (as I have before). You need to get involved in transoprtation policy decisions. Contact the Governor's office and your state representatives and senators REGULARLY. Contact each of the regional planning agencies and ask a LOT of questions and how you can add to the discussion. ConnDOT does not really make decisions on what is done to highways outside just maintaining them, the politicans and planning agencies do. The Southwest Region Planning Agency i(SWRPA) n Stamford has pushed development of mass transit as the answer and ignored the I-95 problems. The Greater Bridgeport Regional Planning Agency sort of just follows SWRPA's lead. South Central Regional Council of Governments in North Haven was able to get improvements to both highways and mass transit but they do not get involved in the other agency's business. There needs to be a balance in spending and someone needs to advocate for highway improvements. That could be you. Jay
