Well some more good news....the company in Stamford really liked me and wants another interview next week. Meanwhile, right now i'm in Fort Lauderdale about to have an interview tomorrow with a very small startup company. However, my recruiter in Stamford advised me against it. He said that it could possibly retard my career, because very small startup companies tend to do things eccentrically. On the other hand, larger companies tend to foster universal skills and roles that can be transferred to another company with relative ease. He also said that a career in Stamford, especially for accountants, is an excellent location and spurs many more opportunities for networking, career direction and exponential income potential. He said that other metro areas, such as Hartford even, are in a different category.

Of course, recruiters are salesmen, so who knows how much I can believe him. But he basically said that Stamford is a better place to be for career growth than anywhere else in CT or Florida. The Stamford company, however, is also small (about 60 people). The Florida one is VERY small...only 8 people.

Does it have an equity stake? Don't discount the opportunity to get rich when they get gobbled up by a big company. I know folks who made it big in healthcare tech, I know others who wasted their time...weigh it carefully.

That sounds pretty bogus to me. I think the recruiter sees commission on you from the Stamford job and nothing if you take the job in Florida.
