I don't know about Startford, but i do know that Stratford schools do not even b coming remotely close to being as wonderful as them Westport schools. Us average commoners in Stratford can only asspire to live in such a wonderfully wealthy beautiful lilly community such as Westport.

Someone has probably already mentioned it, and it's more of the very small town feel vs the bigger towns listed, but, East Haddam is beautiful and has all of those things.

Except it's really not in reasonable proximity to New York. Remember the first paragraph, before she even starts writing her list: her family is spread out between New York and CT. East Haddam isn't even in a direct line to Rte 9, let alone I-91. Also it's not known for nightlife - and it's not really near anything known for nightlife. New Haven, Boston, Hartford - none of them are close enough for regular (every weekend or even every other weekend) clubbing/theatre/varietal dining experiences.

You're right, it's very lovely in East Haddam, and it has a great villagey feel to it. But it's not a very practical option for someone who wants easy access to urban living, without necessarily living in the middle of it.

Re-reading the original post, it really is basically describing New Haven. Since the schools have challenges, I'd focus on the surrounding suburbs.
