Default Storrs, Mansfield, CT to New York City

I am considering graduate school at UConn in Storrs. I have relatives in NYC who I need to see often. Does anyone know if there is a train service to NYC from Storrs or any city close to Storrs? I really don't want to drive.

I'm not positive, but you might need to take a bus from the UConn campus to Hartford. There's at least 2 Hartford buses that leave the UConn Co-op every Friday afternoon.
Also, it may be easier to just take a NYC bus from Hartford. I do know that there's a NYC bus that leaves Hartford just after the last UConn bus arrives.

Unfortunately, there's no passenger train service in eastern Connecticut. As the previous poster said, you can take a bus to Hartford. In Hartford you can either take Amtrak to New York (which would almost always require a transfer in New Haven) or a bus to New York.

Another option would be to drive from Storrs to New Haven, park your car in New Haven, and take a Metro North train into New York. The drive would be a little over an hour.

Easiest way would be to drive to New Haven and take Metro north.

Other options like already mentioned would be drive to Hartford and take Amtrak into NYC. There are 3-4 trains that are direct into the city and another 5-6 with a connection in New Haven. The prices are higher though, on average 50-65 each way. Metro North out of New Haven is only 12-15. each way.

Another option would be to drive into New London and take Amtrak, however once again this option is longer and more money than Hartford or New Haven.

another option is taking the chinatown bus that services Foxwoods/Mohegan Sun Casino. They are only $15 round trip. Different bus lines service different areas of NYC, I think only Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.
