There is, of course, a lot of technology in submarines but I think most would consider EB- and Sikorsky- for that matter to be a manufacturing company rather than a tech company.

It's a defense contractor, not Apple, but yes, new hires may come in and buy homes, drive some values up, and spend on the local economy like dining out. Only good can come from this. It's a huge deal for the state and will only further solidify it's reputation as a mecca for the middle class and up.

Yes, its not Apple. The company is Electric Boat. They are a subsidiary of General Dynamics.

That is correct. Big Defense is hiring in the area, not Big Tech. It's a big win for the state along with the fighter jet engines as reported by Bpt1111.
Now that CT pols led by Danang Dick are suddenly pro war, death and destruciton, CT only stands to benefit.

Holy cow! The Hartford Courant is reporting that Australia will buy as many as five Virginia Class submarines from the US with part of the work going to Electric Boat in Groton. No wonder they are stepping up hiring. Incredible news for southeastern Connecticut. Jay

I saw that and thought the same thing.

$3.5 billion each x 5 = 17.5 billion

That's going to be a lot of money floating around the eastern coast of CT.......figuratively and literally.

That’s one helluva maiden voyage.

The CT War Machine just offset the Lego loss in one fell swoop seemingly overnight. Just like that.
