This is crazy. With this cut my taxes will increase 17%. This is actually stated on my car bills.

I'm actually baffled by this. Hard work is not rewarded in this State.
Precisely.

And this, my friends, is part of the reason I'm getting the hell out of this state.

I think this is worthy of it's own thread. If people are looking at towns and they think the taxes are reasonable in a town they are looking at to buy they might not be if this plan goes through. I have a hunch this will happen.

For instance these proposed cuts seem arbitrary and massive to these towns.

Bethel: $8,087,732
Berlin: $6,215,712
Cheshire: $8,492,999
Clinton: $6,326,998
Colchester: $9,452,317
Coventry: $7,004,932
East Hampton: $6,031,194
East Lyme: $6,918,462
Enfield: $20,009,507 (Holy Cow!)
Milford: $10,849,101
Wallingford: $19,171,370 (Holy Cow!)
etc.

Look at how unfair this seems.

Stamford -0- cuts
Milford $10,849,101 in cuts
Wallingford $19,171,370 in cuts

Stamford HH income:....$79,865.....Ave. House Value: $510,400
Milford HH income:.......$80,312.....Ave. House Value: $298,623
Wallingford HH income: $72,477....Ave. House Value: $264,893

How is the above fair for Wallingford/Milford (and the other towns). I wonder how they calculated the cuts?
Don't see my town thankfully........ Those are some pretty hefty cuts. As usual the middle income taxpayers are gonna get screwed. Nice jobs dems!

Protest what? It's not changing anything.

Enfield is already getting hit hard as it is right now. They have pretty poor schools, awful town management, population has been declining, a failing mall, loss of many jobs including blue collar jobs, an aging population, etc.

Colchester is going to be bad since it's already a small town to begin with. Who comes up with these numbers? Do they pick them out of a hat? How does Vernon lose nothing but next door to them (South Windsor) lose 12 million.

What's even more devastating is that a town is losing 250,000 dollars when they ONLY have 800 people. (Union)

It's not about that. Derby and Ansonia vote Red but are losing nothing.

Come on now guys, this is obviously a political move by Malloy to get both parties to come up with a budget by October. He wants our outrage and people to contact there State Representative and Senator to express their outrage. Now go do it. The more pressure on them, the better the chances this will be changed.

I have and have exchanged emails with the House Republican Leader, Themis Klarides. She basically said "we have done our job". I replied back that that statement is what outrages me the most because they have not done their job and it is time for both sides to put aside their oversized egos and do what they were elected to do. I just hope she listens. Jay

I am thoroughly disgusted with (1) the magnitude of the proposed funding cuts to Torrington and Stratford, particularly in light of the funding granted to certain other challenged communities, and (2) the zeroing out of funding to essentially every town that has already done the right thing by regionalizing and consolidating services.
