Worked in new haven biotech for 4 years. Consult for new haven metro company. Can say without a doubt it is not even close to a hub. Even if they do have burgers on wonder bread with no ketchup

Also work for btech in Hford metro. Area is nothing. Entire state = fail

Will Alexion be next? Moving to Boston?

This is not good. Another company moving out, if it ends up being true. It's saying in the article that it will be clarified tomorrow morning. The state plans to give them $26 million to keep them staying put. When will the state learn that it has nothing to do with taxes, and everything to do with where the new workforce wants to be. Suburbs aren't cutting it if many of the attractive suburbs aren't affordable to millenials with mounting debt. The funny thing is that they literally just finished their building in New Haven, and now theyre thinking of leaving LOL.
This is last post on this page. I'm literally afraid to click on the next. This would be an astronomical blow to the barely existent commercial biotech industry in CT. What a useless sack of turd this place is. Will wait for the inevitable "the sky is not falling, so what if one of the only 2-3 real biomedical corps leaves CT? Didn't you hear Amazon is opening up a banana stand with same day drone delivery...."

Alexion to move headquarters out of New Haven | WTNH Connecticut News
Holy effing hell man. CT is a disaster. Pfizer basically already gone. Will be completely gone not too long from now. Bristol Myers Squibb leaving.with Alexion gone, I expect Boehringer Ingelheim is next. What a wasteland this place is. Better make sure North Korea doesn't get hold of CT, cuz Mr. Kim gonna strap our toxic, radiative waste of a state onto the head of a ballistic missile and launch us at something. Holy crap what a degenerate state we are. Like I been saying folks, we are going to be "Alabama of the North". Just Give it some more time.

Breaking news...Alexion top brass just opened up on reason why they are leaving for Boston in a midnight press release...they said it's because Boston has a restaurant called Luigi's Brunch, and not only do they have world famous eggs without ketchup, they also have burgers where your not even allowed to eat with any carb at all. Just a hockey puck with factory line cheese square melted on top.

After all, this is the new barometer for assessing quality and viability of tech hubs...at least in new haven area.

Maybe Alexion didn't know about those burgers?

It's official Alexion are gone (not all though). Half of the staff will be moved to Boston. 450 to stay.

The tally is up there for job losses. 400 here, 750 in Granby and some at the helicopter place in Bloomfield.
2018 is going to be rough because you have them plus all of BMS pulling out. If CT wants revenue start charging tax on people leaving. Talk about a mine maker.

We should start taking bets on who's moving next? Looking forward to the spin masters here to put a positive on this.

Malloy wouldn't even able to get a lemonade stand opened in CT at the rate he's going! Amazon is a pipe dream folks! Never gonna happen the way the state runs, but please keep dreaming.

We are doomed, this state is done. Literally no one wants to live here anymore. Malloy and his polices have destroyed this state! Sell your home while you still can and run.

Woah. Alexion is moving 50% of their workforce to Boston. Their lowest paying jobs to remain.

This is not good.
