Don't think it will stay free for long.

So much misinformation here. south Norwalk wait list is 9-12 month NOT 4 years. Its one of the more reasonable waits in FFC- along with Harbor Yard at Bridgeport. Wilton does not require a transfer in So Norwalk but there are only three direct trains during commuter hours in each direction.

I commute to NYC four days a week by train and I generally commute from South Norwalk since it is on the Main line. 50-60 minute express trains, garage is covered etc. I generally drive in one day a week. I pay 90/month for South Norwalk garage parking.

Great! Thanks for the heads up. I looked into Westport parking. The Westport website states it's $325/yr for parking. This is the one with the 4-5 year wait. Spoke with another woman on phone about it. You don't have to be Westport resident. She thought it might be Weston residents as well. Regulations pdf doesn't say anything about this other than non-residents have to pay some sort of car tax. Like I said woman from Norwalk parking dept. said 18 months wait for S. Norwalk station. Maybe its way less in reality.

Does anyone know if there is still a wait list for south Norwalk train station parking? Are there daily lots nearby?

There are daily lots. Martin Luther King Blvd. lot is the closest. It's $50/mo.
