Hi,
I am moving to Farmington, CT. How to go about apartment looking and I do not own car thus will be using bus. Therefore, I would prefer place on bus line. Additionally, what to specifically look for before signing the apartment lease?
Thanks

I would rent a car, get a bus schedule and craigslist ads, and local papers and start checking out places in Farmington.

Where will you work? How many people in the family? What's your budget, for rent and utilities?

There is a bus line that runs along route 4 in Farmington, from Hartford and through West Hartford, into Farmington. But it doesn't run at night, and it doesn't run often - sometimes as infrequently as once an hour.

If you are not working in Farmington, I would not choose to live there without a car. For living without a car, you'd be better off living in a more densely populated area, like West Hartford, where one can easily walk to supermarkets, including certain ethnic markets. Better to live where you can get to stuff, and take the bus to and from work.

Here is a link to a list of apartments in Farmington. The "Udolf" units in the 1400 block of Farmington Av are more like townhouses than apts.
