Default Route 8 Rush Hour from Derby to Bridgeport?

Hi all,

I'm very close to buying a house in Derby, CT and I'm wondering what the rush hour traffic is like on Route 8 from Derby to Bridgeport? Please tell me it's better then route 7 !!!

I would be commuting on the New Haven line out of Bridgeport.

Plus does anyboy know of good garages to park at for the Brideport MTA station? I called Pro-Park (listed on mta.info) and there is a waiting list.

I don't think there will be a traffic problem on Rt 8, except maybe when you get into Bridgeport. Route 8 is almost like a normal highway, so it is completly not like rt 7 (which my grandparents had their weekend home in ridgefield bought since an onramp was gonna go through their house). I don't know about any parking situation near the train stations, but I know all of the down county parking near trains are very bad. There is a train station in Derby on the Waterbury branch of the New Haven line. That is a long trip, about 2 hrs by to Grand Central and even from Bridgeport it will be an hour and a half. For parking at the Derby station, call the New Haven Rail Ops/Conn. DOT at 203-789-6955.

The commute should not be that bad. The traffic for some strange reason is in Ansonia heading into Derby. There may be a little bit a exit 7, the ride should be no more than 20 minutes.

You will meet up with some traffic on Route 8 but i would guess nothing like Rt 7. It usually moves along pretty well unless there is an accident. but it can build up in the Bpt area.
