Stamford girl, 12, charged with bullying - StamfordAdvocate
I think they did the right thing, it is a misconduct.
And BTW that girl may not even be exactly normal psychologically trying to drive her classmate to a suicide, may be that will make her parents pay closer attention to their child or get her a shrink.

I don't understand the distinction being drawn between public and private schools. Do private school kids not enjoy the same protections as public school kids?

I agree with the poster that most effective way to deal with a bully is a punch in the mouth. However, there are some kids who are physically or mentally unable to defend themselves, and those kids need to be protected.

Because in a private school, there are options that can be pursued. The bully can be expelled, the bullied can transfer to another school. Those options aren't viable in a public school setting. The bully and "bullied" are stuck.
