Driving by the old Stevenson Lumber Co site daily, I was wondering if anyone has heard of any plans for it..I recently overheard 2 old-timers discussing it's sale at a local Dunkin Donuts..didn't hear who actually bought it, though. Anyone?

Marc

I didn't know that they sold it. Not sure how it's zoned but maybe a developer bought it to build houses?

The Monroe First Selectman attempted to allow some sort of "recycling" (garbage) facility there a few years ago, but it didn't work out. Then there was talk of some kind of facility for CL&P there, it was approved for a 3 year lease a year or so ago, then nothing more was heard of it. Maybe it will be another Walmart.

Worked there in the office one summer back in the late 80's. That's a perfect corner for something to be done. Great question. Hope someone can get things moving.

I heard about the CL&P thing...but that was the last I have heard too. It's a huge property and hopefully Monroe will be able to make use of the land sooner than later.
