Default Income to Rental Price Ratio?

I don't know if I can say this is overall or what with Apartment Rentals in CT - Is there a minimum percentage of ones income one must meet to be able to rent an apartment in CT? Not saying in dollars but in income percentage of the going individual monthly rental price.

Someone brought up this important subject very recently and has made me to seriously question this.

Thanks

It is hard to say but I look for a renter to have an income where the rent is 30% or less of their salary. 25% would be better and 33% would be allowable. Jay

Thanks for your response Jay.

So in other words if an apartment lets say is $1,000.00/month I'd have to have a minimum income of $30K/year right?

More like $36,000 (33%) - $48,000 (25%).
