6:45am temps.
Clouds from Upper Level Low prevented Northern New England from a drop into the 40s again.

Vermont has same temps as northern Kentucky and Virginia.

40s in Connecticut this morning...

It's funny because just last week my father was talking with one of his brothers at a picnic about how this summer reminds him if how they were when he was a kid, cooler overall, instead if all the insane heat and humidity. He remembers having a long sleeve or jacket for the nights in CT.

Yeah, we're definitely in a past type pattern. Past winters obviously related to the 70s in many ways especially seeing images of cars buried in snow on the highway in Long Island.

The dew point at Central Park at 8 am was 48 degrees! Dew points across the tri-state are generally in the upper 40s and into the 50s. Dew points will stay right around where they currently are for the NYC metro area, but will drop to the upper 40s to around 50 elsewhere this afternoon. With temps topping out in the middle to upper 70s, it will sure feel like fall out there today!

Interesting to note that this summer has actuallly been slightly above normal. It has been the dewpoints/low humidity that makes it seem like this summer has been much cooler.

You gotta appreciate the dewpoints out there for Mid August. Even to the coast.

40s & 50s north of Richmond is 5-15 below norm. I'm at 52F! Amazing.

2 tolerable Augusts in a row?

I honestly just flat out don't believe the numbers. I have yet to crack 90 and today was supposed to be 80 or a bit higher ad ibahvent breached 73. All nighttime lows fell into the 60s this summer. Much much cooler than average.

I think there's 2 reasons for this..
.
1. We don't have to have 90s to be above normal.
2. 1st half was warmer summer, looking at the second half seems like we'll end up with cooler anomalies. But I abree with Brian that the lack of those muggy days is a reason it's also felt less warm

Fun Stat:

Out of 109 Augusts on record for Hartford/BDL only 19 of them failed to hit 90° or warmer. 2014 is one of them. 2013 is another. 16 of them were pre 1950!
