The question is how will it look after this weekend?

NYC is forecast to hit near 70 F. I wonder where/how much snow will be left. My guess is the snowcover in the Tri-State will not survive the weekend. How ironic that after 3 snow events in December - the Tri-State is likely to see another "green Christmas":

As of today the flow starts to turn west/southwest, so it seems the melt down starts....

Persistent snow cover is rare for December in these parts anyway (I think BDL's probability of white Christmas is in the 40-50% range). Despite the upcoming brief warmup, December 2013 will end up looking more like a typical January.

I think we are expecting the snow to last because we don't have a good idea of what's to come in the next few days. Humidity speeds up the melting process and the next few days look to be overcast/rainy. The overnight lows are probably what is going to "seal the deal" when it comes to not having snow for Christmas. Friday night looks to be near 40 for most on the southern side of CT, low 40s for Saturday night, and mid to upper 40s for sunday night. That time span of above freezing temps will kill the snow, regardless the strength of the day-time heating. But if the snow could refreeze overnight, that would add further protection and a greater chance for the snow to last. I would love to be wrong, believe me.

It's even lower on the coast....about 20-25% NYC and 25-30% CT Sound shore.......

It's warmer than they predicted (NWS had a major radiational cooling low of 14 for Danbury vs. 25-30 for NYC.......I think it didn't get below mid 20s in Danbury and NYC stayed above 30).

So if the temp is going to drop by half on Monday, were going to have one crazy fog setup and ice which will be a hellish combo. Anyone have ideas on what time on Monday that temp drop happens?
