Currently in the 40s near the coast again. Slightly above normal.

Milford, CT. Nice to see the S word in the forecast even though it means less than 2-3" both times. lol. Not a bad start to the year except Sunday

As always...AWESOME!!! This should be the seen year round! You will love next week!!

GFS12z low temps for next Thursday morning.

1st sub zero of the season for many. Maybe only 1 days worth but Thursday looks intense staying below zero in VT and single digits/teens in CT. We'll see. The whole week is cold.
Cold is boring without snow. Give me snow. What's the deal with tuesday?

I won't hype the cold yet since we've seen all season that nothing past 5 days actually happens. LOL

But lets look at the new Euro12z Data for Hartford, CT

Its going from Seasonable & Snow, to Warm & Rain, to Cold & Snow, to Frigid & Dry to Seasonable & Rain.

Says temp will be 10.7°F at 1pm next Thursday. 8.5°F by 7pm. Curious how close it comes to that from this far out.

I see the Alberta clipper is still there Tuesday night. 0.12" qpf which at 10:1 ratios means 1-2" .

There's a reinforcing shot of cold behind the frigid one so it says it lasts 3 days now instead of 1. Thurs-Sat

Yep models are showing (again not reliable) after the cold next week another Appalachian runner and rain. Seems we have stumbled on these this year and that's not a good sign for much snow.

Yup. Here's the track of this weekends storm. Funny thing, that clipper over Dakotas Saturday will merge with the storm over the Great Lakes and head into Canada.. If there was no storm heading from south to the great lakes this weekend, we wouldn't have been in the 50s and we would of gotten back to back clipper snows instead .

WPC Winter Weather Forecasts

Hartford forecast. 4 things regarding the clipper Tuesday.

1. Air will be cold so snow will be fluffy, high ratios
2. We'll lose first moments of moisture to evaporation(Virga-drys up before getting to ground)
3. A coastal low might increase moisture a bit
4. Not a big deal but heads up Tuesday as well as tomorrow afternoon!

BDR has a chance at a record high on Sunday as the record is 'only' 56, set in both 1950 and 2000

I have stopped looking for Weather forecasts anywhere since I discovered this thread. How Cambium doesn't have those $ 500 or $ 5000 prizes is beyond me.

One negative comment though -- can you fellas try to talk in layman terms, rather than Virga-Dry, high-ratios, etc.

Lol. First, don't stop looking at forecasts, you might miss something or need more than a summary. Nice to know when it will be sunny, drizzle or in the boring 40s. Lol

Virga is simply moisture falling from clouds which shows up on radar but air is so dry at the surface that it evaporates before hitting us. The more moisture that keeps falling the more the atmosphere moistens up and eventually the precip falls to the surface.

High snow ratios is simply the water content of the snow. October snowstorm was like 5:1 ratios. Cement snow. Means every inch of liquid falling from clouds is only 5 inches of snow because the flakes are retaining moisture,... Normal for us is about 11:1 in January. Meaning for every inch of liquid we get 11" of snow.

NWS Albany now calling for 2-3" tomm for Litchfield.

I hate to rain on Cambium's Parade (no pun intended), but I am THRILLED with Sunday mornings forecast of rain since it will be perfect weather for flying on instruments with the freezing level high enough to not worry about picking up ice on the wings.

Warm front looks perfectly positioned for low ceilings (less than 500 ft) so even better

As far as timing tomorrow. Heres an animation of what the Hi-Res NAM says.

2pm snow entering CT but most of state dry.

By 5pm snowing everywhere except its starting to mix on western half as the warm air makes its way in

By 7pm its mixing all across the state, raining at the coast.

By 11pm raining most of the state.

So just heads up in the afternoon and evening.
